According to police, three men were arrested in connection with a shooting that injured two people last week in San Jose, the chase ended in East Palo Alto, where two of the suspects were immediately arrested.
Officers found two men injured in the 100 block of West Alma Avenue after shots were reported around 1:12 a.m. on Sept. 6. They were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, San Jose police said.
Officers saw a dark-colored sedan that had reportedly fled the scene and attempted to stop it. The car did not stop and while police pursued it, the suspects allegedly threw two weapons from the vehicle.
The weapons, which included a ghost gun, were recovered by police.
A third man barricaded himself inside a house, but was arrested a short time later, authorities said.
Search warrants were obtained for the barricaded suspect's residence and another suspect's home in East Palo Alto. During a search, police reportedly found ammunition and contraband, adding additional criminal charges to the three suspects.
The suspects are Fernando Landeros-Noriega, 41, of San Jose; Carlos Garcia Hernandez, 32, of East Palo Alto; and Jesus Arreola Rodriguez, 24, of East Palo Alto.
The trio were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of crimes including two counts of attempted murder, weapons violations and reckless felony evading.
San Jose Police Chief Anthony Mata said “the officers' quick response and subsequent arrest likely saved lives and prevented these suspects from harming anyone else.”
