Get ready for the time change: California will turn its clocks back 1 hour this Sunday
This November 5, starting at 2:00 a.m., all smart devices will be updated automatically at 1:00 a.m., while analogues must be changed manually.

This November 5, daylight saving time ends and with it, California will turn its clock back 1 hour before going to sleep this Saturday, because starting at 2:00 in the morning this Sunday, the West Coast will wake up under standard time.

And, starting at 2:00 a.m. on November 5, all smart devices will be updated automatically at 1:00 a.m., while analogues must be changed manually.

The time changes are implemented with the aim of making the most of sunlight and reducing energy consumption.

Thus, in the summer months, as there is sunlight for more hours, you can advance the clock and take advantage of the benefits of it, however, in winter it is necessary to return to “standard time” and thus have the greatest amount of sunlight in the mornings.

Currently, the US maintains a system in which clocks are changed twice a year, in March, when "daylight saving time" begins, and in November, when it returns to "standard time."

Many appreciate the change to standard time, because with it, they will sleep an hour more.

The current March-November system that the United States follows began in 2007, although on March 15, 2022, the United States Senate unanimously approved the Sun Protection Act of 2023, with the aim of making daylight saving time stay throughout the year.

The bill must be approved by the House of Representatives and promulgated by the president, a situation that has not yet occurred.

It should be noted that Hawaii and most of Arizona are among the states in which this change does not apply, since they have their own enactment.

In turn, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and American Samoa argued that for commercial and geographical reasons they also refrained from modifying their schedule.
