Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be mayor for a day of Redwood City? Do you have ideas about how you could make the city a better place to live and play?
The mayor's office wants to know, so it has called on elementary and middle school students in the city to participate in the "Mayor for a Day" contest, which could give one of these children and one teenager the opportunity to lead Redwood City for a day.
The winner of the contest will be the best essay detailing what a typical day would be like if he or she were mayor.
The contest is open to Redwood City residents of elementary and high school age. The essay should be a maximum of 500 words and can be written in English or Spanish.
It should be noted that the last day to receive essays will be Friday, April 22nd before 17:00 to the e-mail aCLERK2@redwoodcity.org, and only one essay per person will be received.
The Mayor Giselle Hale will review all essays and select one elementary school winner and one middle school winner to recognize at the May 9 City Council meeting, lead the pledge of allegiance and read their essay.
Winners will receive a certificate of recognition and their essays will be displayed at City Hall and the Redwood City Center Library.
