Verbal attack against the Arab community in San Francisco condemned

The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) strongly condemned a statement made by an unidentified individual in San Francisco on December 27, which threatened sexual violence against Arabs. in a peaceful Palestinian protest. 

The largest Muslim defense and civil rights organization in the country described what the attacker said as abominable and called to stop attacks against the Islamic community.

?These threats of sexual violence against Arabs or any population are alarming and unacceptable. “We stand with the Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities and urge them to remain vigilant and report any form of hate speech or threats immediately,” said CAIR-SFBA Executive Director Zahra Billoo.

This latest incident, the organization detailed in a statement, is part of a disturbing trend of hate incidents and crimes against different religious and cultural communities in the Bay Area, including the recent vandalism of pro-Palestine banners in San Jose, a menorah at Lake Merritt in Oakland and a Hindu temple in Newark.  

Given this, CAIR-SFBA called on all religious communities, especially pro-Palestinian peace activists, to increase awareness and vigilance in these difficult times and reiterates its commitment to combat intolerance, racism and hatred. in all its forms.
