San Mateo authorities are investigating poisonings after three San Mateo nursing home residents appear to have been poisoned, one of whom died after ingesting toxic chemicals, the San Mateo Police Department said Monday.
Following the events, authorities opened an investigation after an officer was dispatched last Sunday to Atria Hillside Assisted Living Center on S. Norfolk Street with a report that a woman had been poisoned.
So far, the investigation has found that three residents of the home care facility were hospitalized after ingesting toxic chemicals. One of them, a 93-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Thus, the San Mateo Police Department is working with the California Department of Social Services Ombudsman, while authorities note that Atria Hillsdale has been cooperating with the investigation.
This is an ongoing investigation and police will provide updates as they become available, they said.
