Two different people called the central office. Palo Alto Police Monday afternoon to report seeing a person with a rifle walking toward Gunn Middle School, while the school simultaneously received a bomb threat. Investigators determined the calls were hoaxes and are actively working to identify the suspects.

On Monday, April 22, at approximately 1:51 p.m., the Palo Alto Police Department received a call from a man who said he had just seen a teenager walking toward Gunn High School at 780 Arastradero Road with a rifle strapped to his back and carrying two pipe bombs, authorities reported.

In a statement, they detailed that a second man who called said he had seen a man in his twenties wearing a bulletproof vest walking towards the school and carrying a rifle.
