Who does not remember movies like Die Hard, The Fifth Element, Armageddon, or The Sixth Sense, feature films that have been placed in the memory of millions of people, as well as one of its main characters, Bruce Willis, who has recently announced that he will step away from acting due to a disease that attacks him called aphasia.

The news, which was announced by his daughter Rumer Willis through his Instagram account, specifies that the actor, musician, singer, producer and businessman was recently diagnosed with aphasia, so he abandons the career that takes him to the screens.

"For Bruce's incredible fans, we want to express that Bruce has had some mishaps with his health lately and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which affects his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and after much consideration, Bruce will be stepping down from the career that has meant so much to him," the post detailed.

But what is aphasia, a disease suffered by Bruce Willis?

Aphasia is a language disorder that affects a person's ability to communicate.

According to the Mayo Clinic, this disease can affect the ability to speak, write and understand both verbal and written language.

Aphasia usually occurs suddenly after a stroke or head injury, but it can also appear progressively due to a slowly developing brain tumor or a disease that causes progressive and permanent ?degenerative? damage.

The severity of aphasia depends on several factors, including the cause and extent of brain damage.

Once the cause has been addressed, the main treatment for aphasia is speech and language therapy.

The person with aphasia reacquires and practices language skills and learns to use other forms of communication. Family members usually participate in the process and help the person communicate.
