The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's San Mateo Unit (Santa Cruz-CalFire CZU) has issued an evacuation alert for some areas of San Mateo County due to flash flooding and high winds.
The National Weather Service issued a warning for parts of the CZU Lightning Complex burn area, increasing the potential for debris flows, downed trees and power outages.
Evacuation alerts specifically include:
- The South Coast Zone SMC-E019, which encompasses Año Nuevo State Park, Whitehouse Canyon Road, and areas south of Gazos Creek Road east of Highway 1.
- The South Coast Area SMC-E038, which includes Butano State Park and the Barranca Knolls Community, west of Cloverdale Road.
- The Loma Mar and Dearborn Park Communities in the SMC-E018 Zone.
- Butano Canyon Community in the SMC-E098 Zone.
These areas will be updated by EVACUATION ORDERS at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, October 24.
"As Sunday morning progresses and winds and rain increase, downed trees, tree limbs and landslides could impede evacuations. Power could be affected. Do not wait to evacuate", warns the recently issued report.
Half Moon Bay High School will open at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning as a temporary evacuation point (TEP) 1 Lewis Foster Drive, Half Moon Bay, CA. 94019.
