Listen to this note:
caltrain, the Bay Area rail operator, announced that beginning Sunday, September 1, a $1 round-trip fare for youth under 18 will be available for all zones on all fare payment methods, as well as a $2 daily pass.
These fares will be available on Caltrain Mobile (while available) and at Caltrain ticket machines.
“It's now easier than ever for young riders to take advantage of Caltrain, as they enjoy the freedom and flexibility instead of traffic and gridlock,” said Caltrain Executive Director Michelle Bouchard.
Young people can now travel around the peninsula easily for less than the cost of a bubble tea," he added.
The new prices for those under 18 come after the Caltrain Board of Directors voted to permanently reduce fares for young riders at its August meeting.
Youth can purchase tickets or passes from ticket machines, the Caltrain mobile app, or with the Clipper Youth Card, however, day passes are not available with the Clipper Youth Card.
