San Mateo County calls for launch of Community Health Improvement Plan

San Mateo County calls for launch of Community Health Improvement Plan
The Community Health Improvement Plan aims to guide public and private initiatives and investments with the goal of improving the general health of the community and the conditions that promote health.

The San Mateo County Health Department invites residents to participate in an online meeting on Wednesday, November 1, when it will kick off the development of the first Community Health Improvement Plan.

The plan aims to guide public and private initiatives and investments with the aim of improving the general health of the community and the conditions that promote health.

County Health is seeking the public's help to identify the top priorities to be included in the plan and begin a framework for ongoing efforts.

At the Nov. 1 meeting, County Health will share results from a series of recent community forums on health needs and priorities.

The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 pm via Zoom.

“The community forums involved more than 150 participants and gave us the opportunity to hear firsthand the needs expressed by our residents,” said Tamarra Jones, interim director of the Planning, Policy and Public Health division at County Health.

In addition to the forums, County Health surveyed more than 3,000 county residents, capturing data on factors that influence health outcomes, including affordable housing, child care, education, employment, air and water quality, civic participation, neighborhood safety, access to health care services, and physical activity.

Developing the Community Health Improvement Plan is the next step.

According to County Health, a key goal is to engage the public and develop partnerships that will create conditions that improve the health of the community.
