At 11:53 p.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Coastal Flood Advisory warning that King Tides could cause coastal flooding for the San Francisco Bay Area.
King Tides, they said, "will cause minor coastal flooding in low-lying locations at high tide on Monday night."
In addition to flooding, "the lowest tides of the event will be observed in the early morning hours, which may create problems for boaters navigating shallow waterways," NWS said.
While tide levels will also increase along the Pacific coast, affected areas will be more localized in San Francisco, North Bay Interior Valleys and San Francisco Bay Shoreline.
"Tides have receded tonight, allowing tonight's advisory to expire," the NWS said. "But tides will increase again Monday night and successive nights this week."
The notice will go into effect at 8:00 p.m. this Monday, will last 4 hours and will expire at midnight.
However, NWS expects tide readings to peak around Wednesday night.
