This Wednesday morning, Norway, Ireland and Spain reported, separately, that they will recognize a Palestinian state, a historic measure as the conflicts in the Gaza Strip progress, after Israel began an unprecedented attack against the population of the Gaza Strip. enclave in a war against the extremist group Hamas.

Given this, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the country's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, welcomed the news of the recognition of the State of Palestine by these three countries, and called on the Biden administration to stop blocking that nation's full accession as a member of the United Nations.

In a statement, CAIR national executive director Nihad Awad, who is of Palestinian descent, said that "the full entry of the State of Palestine into the community of nations is long overdue and should not be subject to the veto of our government or the far-right, openly racist and genocidal Israeli government?

He further said that all top Israeli leaders have made it very clear that they will never voluntarily accept the State of Palestine nor would they recognize its population.

"Now is the time for all nations, including ours, to recognize the State of Palestine," Awad stressed.

CAIR also stressed that federal laws that would penalize international organizations for recognizing Palestine must be rejected and repealed.

Last month, CAIR condemned the Biden administration's veto of a UN resolution that could have resulted in Palestine becoming a full member of the United Nations.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Israel Katz, assured that he has issued a severe message to the ambassadors of Spain, Ireland and Norway in Israel, following the decision of their governments to award "a gold medal to terrorists." of Hamas who kidnapped our daughters and burned children?

During the march, he noted through his X account, "the ambassadors will watch a video of the brutal and cruel kidnapping of our daughters by Hamas terrorists, to emphasize the distorted decision that their governments have made."

In turn, he asked the president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez; the Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris; and to the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, "Look into the eyes of our daughters!", after sharing images of young people kidnapped by Hamas.

At the time, the president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, wrote in his X account: "Echoing the majority sentiment of the Spanish people, next Tuesday, May 28, Spain will approve the recognition of the State of Palestine in the Council of Ministers. The time has come to move from words to action. For peace, justice and coherence?

In the case of the Prime Minister of Ireland: ?Today Ireland recognizes the State of Palestine. We believe that recognition will contribute to peace and reconciliation in the Middle East. It is a statement of unequivocal support for a two-state solution, the only credible path to peace and security for Israel, Palestine and their peoples. A peace that honors the legitimate aspirations of all the peoples of the region to live with respect, justice, security and dignity?
