Google will reduce labor benefits to workers to reduce expenses

According to The Wall Street Journal, Google also plans to introduce a tool that will help its teams select low-cost providers for external services like software and equipment.

"Just like we did in 2008, we will analyze the data to identify other areas of spending that are not as effective as they should be, or that are not suited to our size," Porat noted in the email, according to the financial daily.

The measures, also specified the financial director of Google's parent company, Alphabet, seek to "provide lasting savings through greater speed and efficiency."

Alphabet shares were up 0.51 percent at the open on Tuesday at $103.56 each, according to the Wall Street technology indicator.

Other technology companies have joined the reductions in expenses, such is the case of Intel, who pointed out that it will close its air transport service for employees, suggesting that they use the commercial air service when they need to travel. 

For its part, the Cupertino giant, Apple Inc., announced its plans to adjust its bonus schedule for some employees, a measure that will delay this year's payments; while Meta Platforms Inc. recently reported that hiring for new positions has been paused.
