Next Saturday, January 13, all Mexican embassies and consulates abroad will hold a special credentialing day so that all Mexicans can process their voting credentials on time and thus participate in the 2024 elections.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, passport and consular registration, public faith and civil registration procedures will also be available in selected offices.

To process your voting credential, you only need to appear at the nearest Mexican embassy or consulate, without the need to make an appointment, with the following documents:

  • A document that proves Mexican nationality, such as a birth certificate or passport
  • A photo identification, such as the consular registration as long as it contains the CURP
  • Proof of address, such as an electricity bill or car bill

It should be noted that the deadline to register and choose one of the three modalities available to vote in the 2024 elections in Mexico is February 20.

It is important to note that those who are 17 years old, and turn 18 before June 2 of this year, can also process their voter credentials and participate in the next elections.

Interested Mexicans abroad can find more information on the site www.votoextranjero.mx  where you can learn more about the requirements to process your credential, the voting modalities available depending on your location and the different positions for which you can vote according to your entity of origin.

All those who have already processed their credential and need to follow up on the process, can contact INETEL from the United States at 1(866) 986 8306 and from the rest of the world at +52 (55) 5481 9897, or send an email to inetelmx @ine.mx.

However, if you need to process a passport, consular registration, public faith documents or civil registration, it is necessary to schedule an appointment on the MyConsulate platform.

From the United States and Canada, people can make an appointment by phone or WhatsApp at +1(424)309 0009 or online at miconsulado.sre.gob.mx, while in the rest of the world appointments are available exclusively at through the site myconsulado.sre.gob.mx
