Prepare for the upcoming 55-hour closure of northbound US 101 in Redwood City, October 13-16, as the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is in the process of replacing the Cordilleras Creek Bridge due to It is at the end of its useful life.

The goal of this project is to replace the existing triple box culvert with a single span bridge, while maintaining connectivity and safety for the public traveling along this stretch of US 101.  

To accomplish that work, Caltrans plans to close each side of US 101, southbound and northbound, for a 55-hour long weekend, a total of two weekend closures.

The closure will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday night and will last until 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning. 

As a result of the closure, Redwood City expects impacts to local traffic, particularly on El Camino, Woodside and Middlefield Road. 

Drivers are advised to be alert for site closures and detour signs.

The authorities have called on you to drive with caution on detours and leave a safe distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. 

Notably, traffic management strategies will be implemented to keep traffic away from the area and divert travelers between the Holly Street and Whipple Avenue exits onto Industrial Way in Redwood City.
