As part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated from September 15 to October 15, this Saturday, September 16, the flag of Mexico will be raised in the plaza of the Palace of Justice of Redwood City, thus recognizing the importance of Mexican culture in the city.
This raising, said the mayor of Redwood City, Jeff Gee, which will take place at 10:00 a.m., will also have the purpose of starting the celebration of National Holidays that will take place on Sunday, September 17, starting at 3:00 p.m.
Arnoldo Arriola, leader of the Mexican community in Redwood City, thanked during the City Council meeting held on September 11, on behalf of all families and individuals with Mexican roots, for the gesture with the community.
At the same time, he pointed out that, for the last 15 years, the celebration of the National Holidays has been a great event in Redwood City, which has tried to bring to those families who for some reason cannot visit their country, a little what they grew up with and that they want to instill in their children.
"Thank you for raising our flag this coming September 16, I am sure it will also be very great for our sister cities, Colima, Ciudad Guzmán and Aguililla," he highlighted.
For her part, Connie Guerrero, member of the Latino Community Council, thanked the proclamation and the recognition made.
?This is a very impactful recognition, it is a long celebration and a great opportunity to speak with one voice for the future of our country and the world. It is important because heritage is our identity, it is what makes each of us unique. Is that what we are? he explained.
?We really appreciate the opportunity to have this space to celebrate with our community, we hope this is the first step ?we know that there are different countries that celebrate throughout the month and hopefully, next year,? so we can work together to also recognize or have some kind of screen for the rest of the countries.
During the National Holidays celebration, Mayor Gee will give a welcome speech, and the representative of the Mexican Consulate General office in San Francisco will also be present.
