Authorities arrest a 39-year-old Redwood City man who was taken into custody over the weekend after he allegedly violated a restraining order, stole a woman's cell phone and then tried to break into her bedroom.
Around 11 p.m. Saturday, authorities were called after the suspect showed up at a home in the 200 block of First Avenue in North Fair Oaks, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect allegedly stole a cell phone and money, then fled before deputies arrived. The victim was not physically injured, the sheriff's office said.
A few hours later, early Sunday morning, the suspect returned to the victim's home and allegedly tried to force his way into her bedroom. Sheriff's deputies were already searching for him and found him hiding nearby.
Thus, Alex Guerra Arévalo, of Redwood City, was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Center on suspicion of robbery, trespassing and violation of a protection order.
