While the supply of COVID-19 vaccine remains very limited and San Mateo County continues to focus on inoculating eligible individuals at local community clinics and residents of lower-income and hard-to-reach neighborhoods, beginning April 15, 16-year-old residents will be able to access their doses.
In order for these areas to access their immunization, residents should check with their primary care provider and pharmacies to make appointments.
There are currently 33 pharmacies offering vaccines in San Mateo County, including Rite Aid, Safeway/Albertsons, Costco, CVS and Walgreens, with new sites being added all the time.
"All residents, regardless of their current eligibility, can sign up for the county's notification tool to receive updates on the county's vaccine rollout," the county said in a statement.
In that regard, he explained that to make the vaccine accessible to all, the county's notification tool is available in Spanish, simplified and traditional Chinese, and Tagalog, while, through Google translator, the form is also available in several other languages.
Residents should also sign up for the state's MyTurn tool, which is also used to schedule appointments at community immunization events.
