A shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, recorded this Monday morning, has left at least 5 people dead, including the shooter, and 8 more people injured, including two officers, who are already being treated at the hospital, reported the local authorities.
Louisville Metropolitan Police Department Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey said the gunman was killed shortly after the 8:30 a.m. ET shooting at the Old National Bank in the 300 block of East Main Street by from the police.
Authorities have described the shooting as a case of workplace violence, perpetrated by an employee struggling with mental health issues.
"This is terrible. I have a very close friend who didn't make it today. And another close friend who didn't make it either, and one who is in the hospital and I hope he gets over it," Kentucky Governor Andrew Graham Beshear said at a press conference.
The official asked everyone to pray for those who are in surgery due to the shooting, and to hug all those families. In addition to calling all those who need help to ask for it without fear.
For its part, Old National Bank reported on its Facebook account that, in response to this morning's tragic shooting at Preston Pointe in downtown Louisville, members of the bank's executive team, including CEO Jim Ryan, are in the site in Louisville.
“The safety of Old National Bank employees and all of us we serve at our banking center locations is paramount,” said former National CEO Jim Ryan. "While we await further details, we are rolling out employee assistance support and keeping everyone affected by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers."
According to the organization Archivo de Violencia con Armas ?Gun Violence Archive?, this is the 146th mass shooting so far this year, and the 14th to report mass murders.
