Following a recent announcement from Oakland officials showing a reduction in nearly all types of crime since last year, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has helped recover more than 880 stolen vehicles.
The authorities specified that 887 vehicles were stolen, in addition to seizing 47 firearms related to crimes and arresting 440 suspects linked to organized crime.
This announcement comes on the heels of recent data released by the Oakland Police Department reporting a 33 percent drop in crime compared to the same period last year.
In that sense, they explained that almost all types of crimes have decreased in Oakland, including robberies, robberies, car thefts, thefts, arson, homicides and assaults.
