Police Department officers arrested a young suspect in Redwood City after he was taken into custody with a firearm that was allegedly fired on the night of August 2.
And it is that, it was during the night of that August 2 that around 8:43 p.m., the officers responded to a call to the 700 block of Cedar Street due to a report indicating that shots had been fired with a handgun. fire.
When officers arrived, a subject tried to flee the scene but was quickly caught up by officers, authorities said in a statement.
At that time, 19-year-old Redwood City resident Jesús Jahir Sosa Ortega was discovered to be in possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Sosa Ortega had fired the stolen firearm multiple times that night. So far there is no evidence that anyone has been hit by those bullets.
Thus, on October 5, Redwood City detectives served an arrest warrant and a search warrant at his residence in the 700 block of Cedar. Sosa Ortega was arrested on a charge of negligent discharge of firearms.
It should be noted that during the search of his residence he revealed illegal high-explosive fireworks.
Sosa Ortega was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for warrant and unlawful possession of a destructive device.
