The Redwood City Police Department reported the arrest of three men - one of them a juvenile - suspected of committing armed robbery in the area, who are now in the San Mateo County Jail awaiting sentencing for their crimes.
The arrests came after last Wednesday, Dec. 1, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a Redwood City police officer was on patrol in the 400 block of Woodside Road when he observed three subjects exit the 7-Eleven, run into a nearby parked vehicle and flee the scene.
Upon observation, the officer made contact with the employee of the establishment, who told him that the subjects had just committed an armed robbery of the business.
The officer was able to catch up to the fleeing vehicle and attempted to stop it, however, it did not yield and entered Highway 101 southbound from Woodside Road.
According to a statement, law enforcement pursued the fleeing vehicle to the Marsh Road exit where it crashed. The occupants attempted to flee the vehicle, but were quickly apprehended by Redwood City and Menlo Park police officers.
A loaded 9mm pistol was located at the scene, along with several hundred dollars in U.S. currency believed to have been taken in the robbery.
The suspects were identified as Pittsburg resident Jylyn Richardson Green, Deshawn Carter of Hayward, and a 15-year-old Hayward juvenile.
All three involved were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries sustained as a result of the vehicle collision. Once released, the two adult suspects were booked into the San Mateo County Jail for robbery, conspiracy, felony evasion and carrying a loaded firearm.
While the juvenile suspect was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Services Center on the same charges.
It should be noted that during the pursuit of the suspect vehicle, a Redwood City Police vehicle was involved in the single vehicle collision, and the officer suffered minor injuries.
