Violence in the home: the pandemic that kills, too

Why do abusers abuse? This was the central question asked at a conference entitled "Questions Rarely Asked About Domestic Violence," organized by Ethnic Media Services Friday, December 4th.

Abuse and violence remain in the shadows because we live in a culture of abuse of power. Not all abusers are men, to be sure. But, we must add the question of: Why do men become abusive? Or why are most abusers men?

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the risk factors for domestic violence, a phenomenon that, according to specialists, impacts 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men in their lifetime. This violence occurs in all ethnic groups.said psychiatrist Dr. Ravi Chandra of the American Psychiatric Association.
