Serving the community is always an act of great value that must be recognized, this is how the Volunteer Service Award from the President of the United States, as a sign of recognition and gratitude to those people who give everything without expecting anything in return, this year Casa Círculo Cultural had the honor of being part of this great event.

Casa Círculo Cultural asked the council of Redwood City provide the authority through an application and review process to be able to present the President's Volunteer Service Award, where two members of Casa Círculo were recognized, This was stated by Anna Lee Mraz in an interview with Manuel Ortiz during the Peninsula 360 Radio program, in collaboration with Marcos Gutiérrez from ?Hecho en California?.

?In 2003, the Presidential Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in the national strength and entity; The award honors people whose service positively impacts communities in all corners of the country, inspiring more people to join the volunteer work.?, commented Anna Lee Mraz.

Last Monday, December 18, the general meeting of the city council of Redwood City, where councilors and Mayor Jeff Gee, everyone witnessed the recognition given this year to two members of Casa Círculo Cultural, this for their dedication and commitment to making a positive impact on the community, leaving as inspiration for more people to join. 

The President's Volunteer Service Award reflects a strong sense of civic responsibility, leadership and a genuine desire to make a significant difference in the lives of others, this time the people recognized were Claire Yu and Connie Guerrero.

Claire Yu, is a 15-year-old young leader passionate about ballet, she founded her ballet organization called Dance Développé, this non-profit organization is dedicated to promoting appreciation for classical ballet through outreach, events and free classes for girls and boys.  

Claire Yu, offers her time teaching children at no cost, she provides ballet lessons preparing girls and boys giving them the opportunity to dance and give performances in various places. 

?She has offered ballet classes weekly to the young students of Casa Círculo Cultural for 2 years and they have even performed 3 times in Ramón Moreno's ballet, she is an exceptional student with an average of 4.3, she dances ballet 25 hours a week, dance in shows, participate in contests, and even make your own costumes and many more things?, added Anna Lee Mraz.

The other person was Connie Guerrero, a passionate defender of cultural diversity, who has been committed to the community on various important issues, in addition to standing out as a member of the board of Casa Círculo Cultural in Redwood City.

Since 2012 he has dedicated himself to the Casa Círculo Cultural project, always supporting the projects in each area and also the great work of raising funds for this organization. Connie is a strong woman, focused on the growth and empowerment of women inside and outside the community.

?Connie is a person very dedicated to civic participation and the call to vote with citizens, encouraging active citizenship. This award highlighted that Connie gave all her Saturdays during the pandemic to provide health services and helped register people for the vaccination process and free testing.?, mentioned Anna Lee Mraz.

This award represents much more than acts and hours of service, it symbolizes the great heart of these people and the power of their will to help others in search of change in society; Through this recognition we seek to encourage more people to join the volunteer work.
