Oakland Police Alert on Wave of Vehicle and Armed Robberies
.

The Department of oakland police has alerted residents and visitors to a wave of armed robberies, as well as vehicle assaults, that has been taking place throughout the city, for which they have called for precautions.

And it is that, the Oakland Police Department ?OPD? has received an increased number of reports of these two crimes, so they issued a security advisory to inform about this alarming change.

Given this, they recommended that community members take precautions to keep themselves and their property safe.?

The crimes are occurring in Oakland at various times, authorities said.

In some recent cases, they noted, armed individuals intentionally collided their vehicles with those of unexpected victims in the hope of making the victim stop. While, in other incidents, armed individuals block the victim's vehicle to prevent their exit, and then armed individuals rob the victims of their personal property and, in some cases, kidnap them.

The Police Department reported that it is closely following this current trend, including descriptions of those responsible and their vehicles.

If you are a victim or have information about those responsible for these violent crimes, authorities ask you to call 510-238-3326.

Reduce risks

The Department urges all residents to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings while driving and to report any suspicious activity immediately.

In addition, the Department recommends the following safety tips:

  • Always keep your vehicle doors locked and windows rolled up when driving, especially in high-risk areas.
  • If you are involved in a motor vehicle collision and you think you are in danger, call the police immediately.
  • If you are being followed or think you are in danger, drive to the police station or a well-lit, populated area and call the police.
  • Don't be distracted by electronic devices.
  • Be discreet with your property; This includes wallets, phones, jewelry, and other valuables.?
