Government of Mexico confirms the death of two Mexicans by fires in Maui

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico ?SRE?, reported on the unfortunate death of two Mexicans due to fires in Maui, in Hawaii, for which he expressed his deepest condolences to family and friends. 

Personnel from the Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco who are on the island are already in contact with the families to provide them with the necessary assistance and accompaniment, reported the Mexican authorities.

Similarly, they detailed that they are already in communication with the local authorities to confirm the procedures and protocols to follow, based on the emergency situation that still permeates the island. 

Consulate General personnel have been in Maui since last Saturday, August 12, to provide them with direct care, issue emergency passports and other identity documents, as well as guide them and channel them to the resources that the responsible US authorities are providing. 

The telephone number of the Information and Attention Center for Mexican People "CIAM" has also been made available to the community, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week: +1(520)623-7874.

"The Government of Mexico reiterates its commitment and priority to provide comprehensive consular assistance and protection to Mexican people on Maui, and conveys its condolences to the affected families," the SRE said in a statement.

As of Tuesday, August 15, the number of deaths confirmed by Maui authorities was 106. Maui police identified two of them as Robert Dyckman, 74, and Buddy Jantoc, 79, both of Lahaina. 

Three others have been identified, and police said their names will be released when their families are notified. To provide DNA samples to aid in identification, family members can go to the Family Assistance Center, which is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kahului Community Center.
