Do Not Divide Redwood City: Citizens

Redwood City part of Santa Clara

By Pamela Cruz. Peninsula 360 Press [P360P].
Did you know that there is a plan to redraw state representation and split Redwood City: half of the city would be in San Mateo County and the other half in Santa Clara County for election purposes?

This was reported by residents of the city, who through a brief statement stressed that the measure "makes no sense and will pass without residents being able to give their opinion!

Given these circumstances, they asked citizens to call the organization We draw the Lines California this Monday at 1:00 p.m. to decide the future of Redwood City.

Residents have called to support the map submitted by Veronica Escamez that keeps Redwood City entirely in San Mateo County.

Residents can add any personal information about why they support Redwood City staying in San Mateo County. The hearing begins at 1:00 p.m. and will need to wait until public comment is requested:

To make public comments during the meeting, call 877-853-5247 and enter the code: 884 6542 9407 * 9 .

In addition, you can write via the link https://www.wedrawthelinesca.org/contact.

Phone calls are preferable, and the more calls received in support of Redwood City remaining in San Mateo County as a whole, the better.

The California Redistricting Commission is finalizing new maps for Assembly and Congressional Districts.

This arbitrary division cuts off citizen voice on key policy decisions that impact schools, among other important decisions.

"As one of the most marginalized communities in any of the counties, we believe it is important to keep our voice heard. We need immediate and swift action to make our message heard," said Redwood City residents.
