Peninsula 360 Press [P360P] / Bay City News

A 35-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a child he was babysitting was arrested this week in El Granada, an unincorporated area near Half Moon Bay.

Michael Dennis Banister allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old boy on three occasions, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Banister on Tuesday on suspicion of lewd acts with a child and possession of a controlled substance.

Banister has a long criminal history from Oregon and had moved to El Granada two years ago, sheriff's officials said.

In addition, authorities asked anyone with information about Banister should contact Detective J. Fava at (650) 363-4192 or email jfava@smcgov.org.
