Mexican among those wounded in shooting in San Francisco's Mission district

The Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco, California, reported that, regarding the shooting in the Mission district that occurred last Friday, June 9 on Calle 24, and from the follow-up with local authorities as part of the consular protection protocols, a Mexican person has been identified within the eight people injured. 

Through a statement, the Mexican authorities informed that consular personnel are already in communication with the person affected, as well as with their relatives, to provide them with the corresponding assistance and legal support in the face of what happened.

In turn, the Consulate stressed that, in order to verify the proper application of justice, it will continue to follow up on the case and request the corresponding authorities to investigate the events that occurred.

Finally, the Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco regretted the events that occurred and reiterated its commitment to the protection and defense of the rights and interests of Mexicans abroad.

And it is that, on June 9, at least nine people were shot in what the police believe was a "targeted and isolated incident" in the Mission District neighborhood of San Francisco.

The shooting occurred while "some kind of neighborhood party" was being held, Eve Laokwansathitaya, an agent with the San Francisco Police Department, said at a press conference. 

According to The San Francisco Chronicle, the shooting occurred shortly after 9 p.m. during a party hosted by a clothing store near the intersection of 24th Street and Treat Avenue.

The victims were eight men and one woman between the ages of 20 and 34, said the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where they were taken.
