The tycoon behind Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk assured that the purchase of Twitter was not to increase his wealth, which is around 270 billion dollars, positioning himself as the richest man in the world, but to "try to help humanity" and so that the network does not become "a hell of freedom".

Through your account On Twitter, Musk said before the speculation, he personally preferred to share his motivation for the Twitter acquisition.

“There has been a lot of speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I think of advertising. Most of them have been wrong," he said in a brief letter.

He pointed out that the reason he acquired Twitter "is because it is important for the future of civilization to have a common digital square, where a wide range of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy way, without resorting to violence."

He specified that currently, there is a great danger that social networks will be divided into extreme right and extreme left chambers that generate more hatred and divide society.

"In the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of the mainstream media has fed and catered to these polarized extremes, believing that this is what makes the money, but in doing so, the opportunity for dialogue is lost," referred.

That's why I bought Twitter. I didn't do it because it was easy. I didn't do it to make more money. I did it to try to help humanity, which I love. And I do so with humility, recognizing that failure to achieve this goal, despite our best efforts, is a very real possibility."

That said, Musk stressed that "it is obvious that Twitter cannot become a hell of freedom, where you can say anything without consequences."

In this sense, he explained that, in addition to complying with the laws of the country, the platform must be "warm and welcoming for everyone", where you can choose the desired experience according to the preferences of each one, just as you can choose, for example, watching movies or playing video games of all ages.

Regarding advertising, the businessman stated that he firmly believes that when it is done well, it can delight, entertain and inform; "It can show you a service or product or medical treatment that you didn't know existed, but that is right for you."

For that to be true, he said, it's essential to show Twitter users ads that are as relevant as possible to their needs, where low-relevance ads are spam, but high-relevance ads are actually content.

“Fundamentally, Twitter aspires to be the world's most respected advertising platform that strengthens your brand and grows your business. To everyone who has collaborated with us, I thank you. Let's build something extraordinary together."

Notably, Musk made the remarks just one day before his $44 billion acquisition of the company is expected to be completed.

In addition, Elon appeared at the company's headquarters in San Francisco this Wednesday, surprising the employees of the social network.
