Every year, a wave of wildfires hits California. It is necessary to be prepared and know the resources that can protect our families, pets, and homes. In this way, Santa Clara County has created a workshop for its residents, with the aim of creating greater resilience in the face of these terrible disasters.

Thus, on Saturday, May 4, Wildfire Preparedness Day, the Santa Clara County Fire Department will hold a wildfire preparedness workshop for community members from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Redwood Estates, Los Gatos.

“We are pleased to offer community members this wildfire preparedness workshop on such an important day,” said Santa Clara County Deputy Fire Chief Hector Estrada.

"With fire season on the horizon, now is the time to prepare for wildfires and I hope the community will join us in learning how to do so," he added.

This comprehensive wildfire preparedness workshop will provide an overview of evacuation planning and preparation, steps to make properties more fire-resilient, and the county's emergency notification systems.

The workshop will also cover the pressing issue of home insurance for county residents residing in Wuild Urban Interface (WUI).

Attendees will receive guidance on California Assembly Bill 38 and buying and selling homes at WUI. A representative from the California Department of Insurance will also be present to assist homeowners struggling with insurance options.

The workshop will consist of three 30-minute presentations with the following focus areas.
