What does Casa Círculo Cultural bring us in 2022?

The non-profit organization Casa Círculo Cultural has become the heart of the Latino community in Redwood City and through classes, workshops and events fosters social change that, according to its philosophy, can be achieved through collaboration, empowerment and civic engagement of society.

Art, culture, language and Hispanic traditions are the backbone of Casa Círculo Cultural and in 2022 they will continue their noble work by offering classes for children where they can acquire physical and artistic skills in Tae Kwon Do, boxing, folkloric dance, Latin rhythms, theater, art, crafts, guitar and piano (for beginners and intermediate).

But not only the little ones can enjoy the educational offerings of Casa Círculo Cultural, as there are also classes for adults in which they can exercise, such as zumba, salsercise, folkloric dance and boxing, but, if they want to exploit their creativity, they also have classes in painting, cutting and sewing as well as cross stitch and knitting.

In November 2021, Redwood City was able to experience the Day of the Dead thanks to the hard work of volunteers, teachers, choreographers and students led by Verónica Escámez, director and founder of Casa Círculo Cultural. Everyone organizes and supervises every detail to immerse the county in one of Mexico's most important traditions.

This 2022, in addition to Día de los Muertos, all the members of Casa Círculo have events planned for the county. Although they don't have all the details yet, some of them are: a Children's Day Kermes in collaboration with the Latino Community Council of Redwood City to be held on May 1st, Casa Circulo Cultural's anniversary gala in May or June and the children's business fair event in the summer, the 4th of July parade, a summer camp in possible collaboration with the Broadway by the Bay theater company or possibly a Spanish immersion summer camp to explore creativity as well as to motivate the empowerment of low-income youth.

Casa Círculo Cultural is also likely to collaborate with the Latino Community Council of Redwood City for the celebration of Fiestas Patrias in September and with the Redwood City Downtown Business Group to organize the Hometown Holidays parade in December.

At the Children's Business Fair, children will be able to develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy and then open a business for a day. A great opportunity to develop their talent and creativity.

In addition to the aforementioned events that Casa Círculo offers to the entire county community, its members enjoy internal events, among which are demonstrations of their classes and gatherings on the occasion of some Mexican and Latin traditions.

For example, this January 6, they carried out the "rosca day", a Mexican tradition, in which each member breaks a piece of a bagel, and only some lucky ones (or not so lucky) find in their slice a small doll of the baby Jesus, in the tradition, those who pulled the doll must prepare the tamales for the "Día de la Candelaria", which is celebrated on February 2.

In addition to their internal and external community events, Casa Círculo Cultural has monthly programs that are worth taking into account, such as their "Art on Wheels" in which they ride in a van to bring art activities for children. They do this every Saturday at a different park in the county, which they announce days in advance on their social networks.

As if this were not enough, CCC is also interested in demonstrating the skills that their students develop and acquire, so throughout the year they also carry out presentations at different points, which previously disseminated in their social networks so follow them on Facebook (Casa Circulo Cultural) and Instagram (@casa_circulo_cultural) and do not lose track of them.
