The San Mateo County Department of Emergency Management has requested the help of its residents in estimating recent storm damage in unincorporated areas.
For this reason, the city has created a survey, which is available in English and Spanish, with which it will be possible to determine if the county qualifies to receive state or federal disaster assistance due to the storms that began on New Year's Eve. of 2022.
It should be noted that completing the survey does not guarantee that the region or property owner is eligible for disaster assistance.
The survey is for homeowners and renters, specifically from the unincorporated areas, meaning areas outside of one of the 20 cities in the county, as well as business owners, and it only takes a few minutes to complete.
Those interested can access the survey at the following link: https://www.smcgov.org/ceo/damages-resulting-disasters-survey.
In addition, residents of the following areas have been asked to complete the survey if they have storm-related damage: Pescadero, La Honda, Inundación, San Gregorio, El Granada, Loma Mar, Miramar, Moss Beach, Ladera, Skylonda, Montara , North Fair Oaks, Emerald Lake, Harbor Industrial Park, Broadmoor, and San Mateo Highlands.
The survey will be open until January 28, 2023.
If you have questions or have trouble completing the survey you can call 650-363-4599 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. for assistance, while residents needing storm-related assistance should call 2-1-1 or at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Notably, on January 3, the county declared a local state of emergency.
